Rob Nutter of RH Viz worked with WCRAG volunteers to help us step back in time to when the Cato Street conspiracy took place in 1820.
Here you can see a virtual reality tour of the headquarters of Horse Guards in Whitehall.
About the VR
The Household Cavalry barracks was reproduced by RH VIz using V-Ray for Cinema 4D from resources provided by Alice Pearson, Director of the Household Cavalry Museum:
http://www.householdcavalrymuseum.co.uk/
In 1820 there were a number of cavalry barracks spread around central London. One of these, King Street was very close to Cato Street itself. Two sites used by the Household Cavalry in 1820 are still in use. One of these is the main depot at Hyde Park Cavalry Barracks in Knightsbridge. The other is the traditional headquarters of the Household Cavalry, which then, as it is today, was at Horse Guards in Whitehall.
On the night of the 23rd February, 1820, the conspirators had gambled that the cavalry would be absent from central London, as they would be preparing in Windsor for the funeral of the recently deceased George III.
This version of the VR has been set at night to reflect how it would have looked on that wintry night two hundred years ago.
Texturing is created using Substance Designer. The project is designed with VR in mind and as such is UnReal engine ready.
